Santa Catalina Monastery

Historic religious monument founded in 1579. It is a small town of 20000 square meters built in Spanish Sevillian style. In its narrow streets you can find churches, chapels and squares as well as its own museum.

The Cathedral

Built (and rebuilt after an earthquake) in Sillar, it has 70 columns, three gates and two arches. It occupies one of the blocks that borders the Plaza de Armas.

Church of Society of Jesus

It is located between the Portal of the Municipality and the Portal de Flores. Temple erected by the Company of Jesus in the Peruvian city of Arequipa, one of the most outstanding examples of the so-called mestizo architecture.

Yanahuara

Traditional neighborhood that is located 2 km. From the city center. It has narrow streets made of cobblestones and houses of sillar. From here you can see a magnificent view of the city as well as the three volcanoes: Misti, Chachani and Pichupichu.

Founder's Mansion

This residence, originally owned by the founder of Arequipa, belonged to the Jesuits in the 16th century who built cloisters, terraces and chapels. In 1785, it was acquired by Don Juan Chrysostom of Goyoneche and Aguerreverre, who turned it into the residence that it is now.

Sabandía

Over the countryside and showing its white sillar walls, the Mill of Sabandia rises. Its strong buttresses, vaults, gargoyles, bars and balconies, give it a personality that resists the passage of time. This architectural jewel, as it has been possible to establish, dates from 1621.

Characato

Colca Canyon

Located 5 hours from Arequipa (by land). It has a depth of 3,200 meters. Its inhabitants maintain their ancestral traditions and continue to use the pre-Inca platforms for their crops. The majestic flight of the Condor can be seen from here, and is an ideal place to practice adventure sports.
